The Joliba Trust supports grassroots development work with farming and cattle-raising communities in some of the most marginal areas of Mali. The charity helps to develop local solutions to local problems. The particular focus is on projects to help women, and environmental work to sustain rural livelihoods. The Trust has worked with rural people in Mali since 1984 and established a fund which became the Joliba Trust in 1992. The Trust is based in Devon.

The South Devon Steiner Shool emphasises creative teaching that is appropriate for the children's stage of development. A co-educational school for 3 to 16 year olds, educating the whole child through hand, heart and mind the school recenlty celebrated its 21st anniversary. It recieves no state funding and the innovative crurriculum provided by the school is a result of the commitment of the teachers the contribution of parents and support of the wider community.
